CADILLAC has unveiled its new SRX Crossover vehicle in America, which is destined to reach these shores next summer or autumn.

It is currently on show at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, where it is being billed as the acceptable face of luxury SUV motoring for today’s economic climate.

The new five-seat 4x4 will do the rounds of European and international motor shows later this year before going into production for right hand drive markets next spring or early summer.

Similar in styling and proportion to Cadillac’s Provoq concept shown at the British Motor Show last month, it will be a replacement for the current SRX Crossover, which has been around for four years.

The company says that at this stage no technical details of the distinctive-looking newcomer are being released, although if it is to be successful it will need a range of economical diesel or petrol/hybrid engines.

Cadillac general manager Jim Taylor, says: "The next-generation SRX, along with the new CTS Sport Wagon, showcases Cadillac taking its dramatic design into new directions, particularly cars and crossovers that are the right size at the right time for today’s luxury consumers."
