Peugeot reveals mid-range crossover
PEUGEOT has revealed the first pictures of what is likely to be a scaled-down version of its 4007 crossover vehicle.
Based on the 308, it is currently code-named the Prologue and will be doing battle with established mid-range SUVs such as the Ford Kuga and Nissan Qashqai.
Although it is due to be shown as a concept at next month?s Paris Motor Show, it is believed to be already in production-ready form and is likely to reach showrooms towards the end of next year or early 2010 as the new Peugeot 3008.
It will come with a choice of front wheel drive or four wheel drive and will include a hybrid among its various engine options.
This will be a conventional engine generating 200bhp plus electric motors that collectively achieve average CO2 emissions of just 109g/km.
It is expected to be a stand-alone vehicle for Peugeot, unlike the larger 4007, which is a joint venture among Peugeot, Citroen and Mitsubishi that has also spawned the Citroen C-Crosser and Mitsubishi Outlander clones.
