MG still a popular second-hand buy
THE downfall of Rover has affected secondhand prices of all its cars, but a seller's loss is the buyers gain.
Plenty of garages can fix 'em and parts are no problem so that's nothing to worry about.
The up-market interior of the MG ZT - the sporty version of the Rover 75 - puts the German car makers to shame and its pretty well up with them on performance.
It is a sophisticated sports saloon offering all the best of what makes a great car.
The ZT and Tourer estate are available with the full range of Rover engines, starting with 120 and 150bhp 1.8s, and a silky smooth 2.5 V6 with either 157, 174 or 187bhp.
There are also three versions of an excellent 2.0-litre turbo diesel, with either 114, 129 or 135bhp.
I have driven most and enjoyed them immensely. The ZT has firmer suspension than its Rover 75 counterpart, but although the ride is occasionally lumpy, road-holding and handling are brilliant.
Interior
This is a car which still looks so good with more presence than a Mercedes for a lot less cash.
Equipment includes hip-hugging seats, height and reach adjustment for the leather covered wheel, a full electric pack, remote locking, alarm and air conditioning.
And there are still many out there with full service history so you know all necessary work as been done.
