Roseanna “excited” over new position

PERTHSHIRE MSP Roseanna Cunningham is relishing her new role in the SNP’s Scottish Cabinet.

The former Environment Minister expressed her “excitement and anticipation” at taking up the position of Minister for Community Safety and Legal Affairs in the SNP government.

Ms Cunningham, who was re-elected as Perthshire South and Kinross-shire MSP told the PA it would be her “special responsibility” to tackle the scourge of sectarianism.

“That is a major challenge and a top priority for the SNP,” she stated.

“As Alex Salmond said in his speech on being elected First Minister, modern Scotland is built on equality.

“We will not tolerate sectarianism as a parasite on our national game of football or anywhere else in this society.

“I hugely enjoyed my time as Environment Minister and it is with sadness that I bid farewell to the job and the many excellent people I worked with.”

Perthshire North representative John Swinney has been re-appointed as Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth.

He said: “I will be continuing to manage the public finances of Scotland and to work to build a stronger Scottish economy.”
