THE long-awaited improvement in the weather was welcomed by anglers at Kingennie with the upward trend in both air and water temperature bringing decent rises of fish on all ponds.
The Bankside Pool saw some prolific sport in the evenings, though day rods also reported fish moving steadily. The Specimen Pool also saw trout feeding at the surface, and Mr. Willis and guests, fishing for two days, had 23 fish for 174lb, including 3 doubles.
There were some fine individual returns from Frandy last week, including A. Bernard, from Tillicoultry, who kept 8 fish weighing a total of 23lb. The angling clubs also had sport, with Dunfermline Artisans catching 41 fish for 82lb5oz; and Newtyle and Meigle AC keeping 24 fish for 58lb6oz. The favourite flies and lures have included Kate McLaren, Black Pennell, GRHE and various Buzzers. For the anglers fishing deeper, Coral Dancer, Yellow Dancer, Ace of Spades and Nomads are all doing well.
George Austin, Errol, took 5 fish for 14lb on buzzers ; Crieff’s Rosie Swaine caught 3 fish for 8lb8oz on a Cat; and Bill Dawson, Dollar, 4 fish for 13lb12oz, also on a Cat. Craig Murray, from Perth, had a 70 fish mixed bag, while Les White enjoyed fantastic fishing with maggot and sweetcorn, taking carp, orfe and ide. Bill Hamilton took approximately 20lb of silver fish and 30lb of carp – the best a 3 lb mirror.
