A PUBLIC meeting has been organised by anti windfarm campaigners to discuss an application for a massive wind device on the Scone Estate.
The meeting will take place in Amulree Hall, on Tuesday, March 17, at 7.30pm.
Ann Lindsay, from ASWAG (Amulree and Strathbraan Windfarm Action Group) said: “The Strathbraan and Logiealmond area is gearing up to yet another application for a 14 turbine windfarm on Findownie Hill which is to the south of the River Braan and to the north of Logiealmond.
“These turbines will be visible from Perth, and are set to blight the area, including the popular and the Little Glenshee area.”
Local Councillors Alastair Wylie and Barbara Vaughan are both to attend this public meeting.
Ms Lindsay continued: “Scone Estates with AMEC previously applied to Perth and Kinross Council to construct a 14-turbine windfarm, which was turned down by PKC.
“Now Scone Estates and a new developer are appealing against this decision.”
An official pre-enquiry meeting in Amulree Hall is to be held the afternoon following the public meeting, at 3pm on Wednesday, March 18.
“In line with all these applications, letters were posted out just 14 days before this meeting.
“Hence the rush to have a local meeting, and let as many people as possible have a chance to hear more,” added Ms Lindsay.
“In addition to this new appeal, the ASWAG (www.aswag.org.uk) are still awaiting more details about access routes and starting dates for the 68 turbine development at Griffin Forest, 18 months on from the granting of consent.
“Now the separate reapplication from I&H Brown for the hills overlooking Glen Quaich is the subject of a public enquiry at Amulree Hall, commencing Tuesday, April 21.”
