Bridge of Cally Post Office is voted the best in Scotland

AN East Perthshire post office has been voted the best in Scotland.

The Scottish Countryside Alliance has named the Bridge of Cally business as this year’s Best Village Shop and Post Office.

Owners Helen (45) and Robert Brawn (52) are taking the drive down from the glen to the House of Lords in London next month where they will represent Scotland in the UK-wide competition. The couple are up against eight of the UK’s finest post offices hope to be the first Scottish winners.

Helen Brawn told the PA: “We really feel valued by all the customers who voted for us.

“What makes this job so enjoyable are the locals and tourists who come in and share their lives with us.

“Part of our appeal is our tradition. Tourists love to come in and see our old interior and classic post office feel,” added Mrs Brawn.

The Brawns, along with their daughter Pamela (18), escaped the rat race down in Crawley, West Sussex, six years ago.

“I was prevented from getting to work one day by a street closure after a bomb making factory was discovered on it.

“That was the final straw. We wouldn’t change our lifestyle now for anything,” explained Mrs Brawn.
