Drive ban for lacrosse player who hit 115mph

A HIGHLAND Perthshire woman who drove at well over “the ton” on a motorway was fined £350 and banned for two years at Perth Sheriff Court this week.

Scottish international lacrosse player Flora Noble (22), of Cloichfoldich, Pitlochry, admitted the offence which took place on a stretch of the M90, at Arlary, near Milnathort, on April 17.

She drove the car at a speed of 115.1mph for a distance of 0.28 miles on April 17.

In a letter to the court, the Edinburgh University student, who also works part-time as a waitress, said: “I accept the charge and apologise to police and the court and offer no excuse for my behaviour.”

Imposing the penalties, Sheriff Daniel Kelly told her that she had reached “an extremely high speed.”

“My main concern is to protect yourself and the public for as long as possible.”

Noble has represented Scotland at lacrosse at Under-21 and B team level.

She is the daughter of Major David Noble, of Strathtay, a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross.

Major Noble was one of three new deputies appointed by Brigadier Melville Jameson, the Lord Lieutenant.
