A GROUP of Highland Perthshire hairdressers are aiming to prove they are a cut above the rest this weekend by showcasing their skills at the top of Ben Nevis.
The four stylists, all from Dunkeld’s Rococo Hair and Beauty, will be offering haircuts to hillwalkers attempting to reach Britain’s highest summit, in exchange for donations to either Macmillan Cancer Support and The John Muir Trust.
They will be joined by a 25-strong delegation from in-and-around the village, aiming to conquer the 4406ft Fort William peak by approximately 11am on Sunday (June 21).
The big-hearted effort – said to be the first of its kind – has been brought to the attention of world record aficionados Guinness
Ann Medlock, owner of Rococo, said: “Obviously we won’t be doing anything too complicated, like highlights or perms, but anyone wanting a quick trim while they’re at the summit will be more than welcome.
“There is a serious side to the event. Many people, including ourselves, know someone who has been affected by cancer, whether it’s themselves, friends or a member of their family,” she said.
Ann went on to say that the gruelling climb is also in tribute to the work of conservation group the John Muir Trust, who own the Ben Nevis estate.
She said: “Ben Nevis is one of the most iconic mountains in the world and the John Muir Trust do a great job maintaining it so people can continue to enjoy visiting the area.
“We just wanted to do something to show that hairdressing is not a frivolous business, and to help two very deserving causes at the same time,” she said,
