A BORDERS driver has been charged with causing the death of his seven-year-old son in a smash near Perth last autumn.
Allan Paton (45), of Crookston Place, Peebles, is also alleged to have been seriously injured in the two-car accident.
Two other people were also hurt on the A9 Dunblane-Perth road, at its junction with the Windyedge-Tibbermore road, on November 7 last year.
Paton had his case continued without plea at Perth Sheriff Court this week until July 7.
It is alleged that he caused the death of Benjamin Paton, of Leeburn View, Peebles, by driving his car carelessly and turning across the path of a Vauxhall Astra, driven by Corrie Wood.
The charge indicates that she and Gillian McKenzie were hurt, Paton, sen., received serious injuries and his son was fatally injured.
A second charge alleges that Paton used the car while the wheels were not fitted with pneumatic tyres and that the tyre on the front nearside had a portion of the ply cord exposed.
A third charge alleges that the front offside tyre didn’t have a depth of at least 1.6 millimetres on the tread.
