“CATCH the bus to a new life” is the slogan for Perth’s Gospel Tent Mission which starts tomorrow.
The message was delivered this week by local congregations in advance of a hi-tech Bible bus visiting the city’s South Inch every day until Wednesday.
Challenger III is a custom-converted luxury double-decker coach with on-board coffee lounge and 25-seat cinema for showing gospel films and presentations.
Senior Pastor Mervyn Milne, spokesman for organisers, Perthshire For Christ, said yesterday: “We believe it is important to take the life-changing message of Jesus out in ways that are accessible to the community.
“Challenger III helps us do just that and has proved very popular with people of all ages and backgrounds, especially young adults.”
The bus is also visiting a number of schools around Perthshire over the next two weeks.
Over 9000 Scottish school children have viewed a schools programme designed to teach children the foundations of Christianity in the modern and exciting venue.
These curriculum for excellence programmes also include stories about famous Scots who have influenced the world, including Eric Liddell, ‘The Flying Scotsman’ who famously refused to run the 100m at the Paris Olympics in 1924 but who went on to win the 400m setting a new world record.
The Perth Gospel Mission starts with a free family fun day on the South Inch from noon to 4pm tomorrow.
Climbing wall, giant inflatables, human table football, bouncy castles, puppet shows, face painting, hair braiding, guest singers and free barbeque, teas, coffees and snacks are all on offer.
Starting at 7.30pm each evening, the Gospel meetings will feature a praise band, stories of transformed lives, guest speakers, gospel choir, drama items and singers.
‘Tea in the Marquee’ events will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4pm each day. Especially for senior citizens, these will take in songs, stories and drama, together with a traditional Scottish afternoon tea of sandwiches and cakes.
The Mission is being organised by Perthshire For Christ. Further information is available from the National Christian Outreach Centre on 01738 639792 or online at www.pwamm.com
