A PROMINENT councillor has been installed as the new president of Perth St Johns Rotary Club.
Heather Stewart is the daughter of the late James Stewart, formerly of the Fair City’s York House Hotel and Grampian Hotel.
Ms Stewart was educated at Craigclowan Preparatory School and Morrison’s Academy in Crieff. She trained as a hairdresser and opened her first business at the age of 20.
Well known for her vocal talents and her local government political career, she is a Conservative ward councillor for Perth City Centre.
Ms Stewart also works on a part-time basis for Independent Living Perth and Kinross, a provider of home care for the elderly and disabled.
She said: “I am proud and privileged to take on the office of president of the Rotary Club of Perth St Johns for the coming year.
“The club and its members have achieved much in the past and it is my intention to continue the outstanding work across the community.
“Rotary’s motto, ‘Service Above Self’, is one I embrace as an individual and I look forward to the challenges and opportunities the role will afford me over the next year.”
