Flats are designed for cafe quarter

WITH moves afoot to revitalise the heart of Perth, more details have now emerged of plans to revamp a prominent city centre building.

Last week the PA revealed the former Filling Station restaurant was to receive a much-needed facelift. Now developers have unveiled their plans for eight high-spec flats above the eaterie.

At present the first and second floors of the premises are unoccupied; the former snooker hall and offices above have lain empty for some time.

It is anticipated the development, like the plans for the frontage of the restaurant, will echo the eye-catching art deco design of the building.

Also included in the conversion will be an improved entrance and stairwell from street level.

The developer believes, should the proposals make it off the drawing board, the development will add economic vitality and vibrancy to the city centre and provide more opportunities for regeneration of the heart of Perth.

The plans will now be scrutinised by Perth and Kinross planners and a decision expected in due course.

A PERTH supermarket wants to rubbish the blight of litter by erecting a two-metre high perimeter fence.

Tesco Stores has applied to the council for permission to install the fence along the northern boundary of its Crieff Road store.

The supermarket also wants to install a marquee at the rear of the store for two years and shift recycling facilities on the site.

Perth and Kinross Council is currently considering the supermarket’s plans.
