FIREFIGHTERS were called to an incident in a prominent Perth building on Wednesday.

Smoke from a fire in a burning waste basket in toilets at Careers Scotland in Highland House forced emergency personnel to don breathing apparatus as steps were taken to ventilate the premises.

The blaze, which caught hold around 11.30am, was extinguished before the tenders arrived at the St Catherine’s Retail Park.

After using CO2 extinguishers, firefighters remained at the site for an hour. No one was hurt in the incident.
