South Perthshire MP looks at climate bill

OCHIL and South Perthshire MP Gordon Banks has been appointed to the Climate Change Bill Committee, a cross-party group of MPs who will scrutinise the Government’s planned new legislation.

Gordon Banks has made tackling climate change one of his key objectives since being elected in 2005 and he has previously served on a number of Bill Committees, including the Pensions Bill.

Mr Banks said: “It is a great honour to be charged with scrutinising this important piece of legislation.

“The UK is pioneering this legislation and this serves to highlight the Government’s intention to tackle seriously the issue of Climate Change.”
