Denies gun charge

A 34-YEAR-OLD man appeared at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon, charged with being in possession of a top-of-the-range shotgun while drunk at the Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace at the weekend.

James Craig Philip, The Orchard, Kinnudie Farm, Auldern, Nairn, denied the charge and will stand trial on September 23. It is alleged that he had the Berretta 12-bore over and under shotgun at Scone Palace Park on July 6. Philip also denied a second charge of being in possession of a quantity of the Class C drug cannabis.
