ASBO ends in jail term

A PERTH man who breached an Anti-Social Behaviour Order by allowing rowdy youngsters into his flat was jailed for three months at the Sheriff Court.

But the sentence on Donald Stevenson (57), of Parmelia Court, was backdated to July 17, when he was remanded in custody.

The ASBO was granted at the court on November 22 last year, banning him from a range of conduct, including allowing visitors to shout and swear in his house.

Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson said that over a “long period of time” Stevenson had allowed people to frequent his flat, which had resulted in disturbance.

The order, he added, had been breached several times since it had been made.

The latest incident took place at 6.30 in the evening he allowed a group of young people into his flat.

“They all began shouting and annoying neighbours who again had to call the police,” he added.

Solicitor Paul Ralph said that the accused’s nephews and nieces had visited him that evening.

He added that Stevenson had already spent 21 days in custody.
