Heartfelt thanks and fond farewell
A CIVIC reception has been held wto mark the retirement of Dr Russell A Leather as Chairman of the Gannochy Trust.
Dr Leather has been pivotal in the Gannochy Trust’s contribution to the fabric of society across Scotland and especially in Perth and Kinross. He has been a Trustee for 40 years and Chairman for over 17 years.
During his period of office, he has overseen the Trust’s support for many flagship projects, including Perth Concert Hall, Perth Theatre, Bell’s Sports Centre, Capability Scotland at Upper Springlands, the AK Bell Library, Perth Leisure Pool, Dewar’s Rinks, developments at Perth College, Aberfeldy Recreation Centre, Macmillan Palliative Cancer Care at Perth Royal Infirmary and several other locations around Scotland, Stirling University sports facilities, Cancer Research at Dundee University, Sensation at Dundee, National Museum and Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, Royal Scottish Academy and National Galleries in Edinburgh and ‘The Gannochy Trust Innovation Award of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’.
Dr Leather has also overseen countless smaller projects that have made a significant difference to the lives of those living in Scotland in the social welfare, health, education, recreation, environment and arts sectors.
Provost John Hulbert said: “The Gannochy Trust has made a major contribution to many highly significant projects throughout both Perth and Kinross and Scotland as a whole. Dr Leather has played an important role in guiding and leading the Trust’s work and I thank him for his commitment and wish him all the very best.”
