PERTH Station could be in line for much-needed improvements.
Transport Scotland and Stewart Stevenson MSP, minister for transport, infrastructure and climate change, this week announced they are planning to extend the Access For All Scheme to a further five train stations in Scotland, including Perth, in the second phase of the programme from April 2009.
Roseanna Cunningham MSP said: “This is welcome news for the many people who make regular use of Perth train station.
“The Access For All Scheme helps to deliver much needed improvements to train stations throughout the country.
“It is vitally important that everybody should be able to have free and unobstructed access to public transport facilities regardless of disability or impairment.
“For those of us who are fortunate not to experience the challenges provided by living with a disability it is far too easy to take issues of access for granted.
“Many members of our community are faced with difficulties daily through either a motor, auditory, visual or some other impairment.
“I look forward to viewing the plans for improvement in more detail as they develop.”
