A MEMBER of Perth Americana band $outhpaw appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court this week charged with a serious attack on an elderly pensioner – allegedly committed at one of their gigs last weekend.
Forty-one-year-old Gavin Munro made no plea or declaration and his case was continued for further inquiries.
He was freed on bail – but two special conditions were imposed.
He has been barred from Pitcairngreen, where the assault is alleged to have taken place – and he has been banned from approaching the alleged victim, a 72-year-old local man.
Munro, a singer/songwriter with the band, was charged with assaulting the pensioner to his severe injury.
The band were included in the line-up at a Music on the Green event at Pitcairngreen on Sunday, August 10.
$outhpaw also headlined at the star-spangled Southern Fried Festival of American roots music in Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre from August 1-3.
They were also given a name check by Texan singer/songwriter Nanci Griffith who topped the bill at the three-day Southern Fried festival.
