A BROKEN nose didn’t stop a plucky shop assistant from returning to work on the busiest day of the year.
And this week Edna Mullen, who works on the cosmetics counter at McEwens, was presented with a Star Award by the store’s managing director John Bullough.
He told the PA: “At McEwens of Perth we pride ourselves on giving the best possible customer service at all times; but every so often staff exceed even our high expectations. The Star Award Scheme allows us to reward those that go the extra mile.
“Our 2008 winner, Edna Mullen, on one of the busiest days of the year, had an unfortunate accident and broke her nose. After attending A and E, she returned to work in the knowledge that there was no-one available to man her counter. Although in considerable discomfort, she put her customers in front of herself in an exemplary fashion.”
In conjunction with Dunkeld House Hotel, Edna wins two nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast for two people at the Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel. The package includes an activity or treatment for both people. The runners-up, Ray Hepburn (Kitchen) and Yvonne Grandison (Bridal) each won a bottle of champagne.
