Developer flouts plans for Kinross-shire housing project

A DEVELOPER who ignored planning conditions for a Kinross-shire housing project faces an anxious wait to learn what happens next.

Simon Wilson Homes have infuriated neighbours in the village of Carnbo with unauthorised work at a four-home development.

Councillors expressed concerns over several aspects of the Picairnie project when it came back for discussion at the development control committee.

They heard claims that one of the floor levels was up to six feet higher than originally approved by planners, impacting on the amenity and value of an adjacent cottage.

And concerns were voiced over the standard of workmanship on a retaining wall and drainage.

Work was halted on-site in May and the developers approached the council seeking the go-ahead to crank it up again.

They also sought planning consent for boundary enclosures including retaining walls and boundary walls.

But after a 90-minute debate councillors agreed to seek clarification on several points raised by objectors and qualified engineers.

Councillor Willie Wilson wanted to see a proper flood risk assessment.
