Gala was a huge success

MUIRTON Gala Day celebrations were officially launched at the weekend by Councillor Peter Barrett , along with Muirton Community Development Trust chairman Dan Swindale.

The councillor thanked everyone involved.

The gala had face painting for tots, temporary tattoos for teens, and local community groups raised funds for good causes at the baking, tombola and bric-a-brac stalls. There were stalls organised by the Polish Community support network and Scottish and Southern Energy gave energy efficiency advise and free low energy bulbs to help people cut electricity consumption.

Councillor Barrett said: “There is a real buzz about Muirton and a sense of purpose you get from people getting involved and getting things done - the relaunch of the community newsletter, the efforts of the community support network, the projects tackled by the youth group, the community creche, early learning and the youth group.”
