Honouring the heroic and brave in Perth and Kinross

LOCAL unsung heroes got the recognition they deserved this week during a ceremony to honour their bravery.

At Perth’s Barrack Street police headquarters, nine local bravehearts received awards for their honourable work for others.

During a ceremony filled with words such as “courage”, “selfless”, “professionalism” and “heroic”, each award winner received their honours from Tayside Police Chief Constable Kevin Mathieson and Tayside Joint Police Board Convener, Councillor Ian Mackintosh.

Among the worthy recipients were Comrie youngster Connor Newlands who saved his sister from drowning in a local river, the three Kinross-shire teenagers who helped with the dramatic rescue of a pair of stricken young boys from a hill close to where they live in Kinnesswood and five police officers whose actions went over and above the call of duty.
