A STRATHEARN driver, caught behind the wheel just two months after he had been banned, was spared a jail sentence when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Instead, Adrian Dziedzic (25), of Cornton Place, Crieff, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service – a direct alternative to a jail term – and he was banned for three years.
He pled guilty to driving while banned in Burrell Street, Crieff, on June 27 – and having no insurance.
Depute fiscal Janine Bates told the court that the accused had been banned on April 29 this year until October 28, 2009.
Police were on routine mobile patrol in a marked vehicle on the day in question.
Shortly after 5pm, they spotted a Renault Megane being driven by the accused and aware he was a disqualified driver.
He therefore had no insurance for the vehicle, she added.
At his previous court appearance, Sheriff William Gallacher noted: “You were disqualified only in April and were driving very quickly thereafter.”
He added that he had to consider whether the accused should be jailed or whether there were “other options” available.
