TRADITIONAL attractions will be to the fore at the third Glen of Rait Games in Carse of Gowrie tomorrow.
The event, which was resurrected in 2004 following an absence of over 300 years, start with a ‘royal’ procession into the Rait games field, a tradition dating back 200 years to when villagers elected a mock provost and magistrates.
Competitions include a hill race, shot put, tug-of-war, three-legged race, toss the wellie and a grandparents’ race.
The games close with a ladies’ pass the parcel, which represents a parcel of plague infected clothes which came into Rait hundreds of years ago, before Bonnie Prince Charlie gathered his supporters at nearby Fingask Castle.
Other entertainment will include Billy Anderson and the Kilrymont Accordion Band, the Leona Robertson Dancers, archives, stalls and a barbecue.
The event opens at 2pm, with entry costing £3 for adults, including afternoon tea. There is no charge for children under five.
