A NEW kerbside recycling service is already being used by 10,000 households in parts of Perth, Auchterarder and Crieff.
And Perth and Kinross Council yesterday revealed that access to the service will soon expand to a further 8500 households in the Craigie, Western Edge and Burghmuir areas of Perth and along the Carse of Gowrie.
The service uses the existing paper, garden and general waste bin system and will allow residents to recycle steel and aluminium food and drink cans, cardboard and plastic bottles alongside paper in the blue lidded bin. Food waste will be collected alongside garden waste in the brown lidded bin.
The latest phase of the kerbside recycling service roll-out will begin the week commencing Monday, September 29. As well as sending out information packs to residents moving across to the enhanced service, open information events have been organised for householders to drop in and ask any questions they may have about the new collection service. These are being held on the following dates:
Monday, September 1 – Bullionfield Hall, Invergowrie, 3.30–7.30pm.
Tuesday, September 2 – St Madoes Community Hall, St Madoes, 3.30–7.30pm.
Thursday, September 4 – Glenearn Community Centre, Glenearn Road, Perth, 3.30–7.30pm.
Monday, September 8 – Errol Community Hall, North Bank Dykes, Errol, 3.30–7.30pm.
Thursday, September 11 – Oakbank Community Centre, Viewlands Road West, Perth, 3.30–7.30pm.
Calendars with service collection dates will also be sent to participating households in the week commencing, September 15.
