Provost revs up for motoring spectacle in Perthshire

PROVOST John Hulbert will flag off Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally tomorrow morning

Provost Hulbert said: “It is a fitting tribute to Colin McRae that the Rally is once again returning to the forests of Perthshire.

“Over the years, this event has become associated with the local area and it has never failed to generate lots of excitement and attract tens of thousands of spectators to the area.

“I have no doubt that this year’s event will exceed its predecessors and that the drivers and spectators alike will enjoy the beauty – and the challenge – of Perthshire’s autumn landscape.”

Richard Pinn, VisitScotland Regional Director added: “This is a fantastic event and very fitting for one of Scotland’s greatest sportsmen. The rally will have excellent knock-on effects for Perthshire tourism businesses with an estimated 40,000 fans expected for the weekend looking for accommodation, places to eat with a real potential to showcase the area.

“Perthshire has already had a number of very high profile events this year and this is yet another that confirms Perthshire as a major destination capable of hosting large scale events which undoubtedly have a major impact on the local economy.”
