Stunning line-up for show

IN the month that Scotland’s foremost Geographical charity, the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS), commits its future to Perth, it seems only fitting that one of Perth’s best loved entertainers is to perform a concert to help raise money for the charity.

George Donald MBE, a talented pianist and raconteur, most famous for his role as musical director with ‘Scotland the What?’, will be performing on October 9 at St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth.

Alongside George will be leading oboist Geoffrey Bridge, an ex-medical student at St Andrews University who went on to study oboe at the Royal College of Music in London and studied with two of the greatest oboists

of all time – Leon Goossens and Heinz Holliger.

Also, the renowned Ellon baritone Colin Brockie will be joining in the entertainment along with the gifted violinist Claire Telford, a graduate of the RSAMD and the Royal College of Music in London.

Mike Robinson, the new Chief Executive for the RSGS said: “I am very grateful to George Donald and his friends for proposing to run this concert on behalf of the RSGS and to our Perth members for pulling it all together. We are looking forward to bringing the organisation to the city and hope we can play our own small role in adding to the tremendous cultural.”

The concert, organised by the Perth committee of RSGS will take place at 7.30pm at St Ninian’s on Thursday, October 9. Tickets are £10 (including a glass of wine) available from The Concorde Music Shop in Perth.
