TAYSIDE Police are determined to ensure tomorrow’s rally goes off with just one hitch.
Traffic police were already mapping out plans to handle thousands of rally fans taking in an event dedicated to the memory of legend Colin McRae.
But they were shocked to be asked to usher a wedding couple planning to exchange vows at the wooded Hermitage beauty spot near Dunkeld!
The couple feared their big day was in jeopardy but the rally won’t be allowed to stall their plans to tie the knot.
Police are expecting thousands of motor sports fans to gather for the ceremonial launch opposite Perth City Hall tomorrow morning, with an influx of spectators anticipated for the closed route forest stages in Highland Perthshire.
Full details for parking are available on the website www.coltnesscarclub.co.uk but police will closely monitor parking along the entire route and yesterday warned: “Inconsiderate or dangerous driving and parking of vehicles will not be tolerated.”
A spokesman added: “Spectators are reminded that the Perth-Inverness road, and the A9 Perth to Inverness road are ‘clearways’ and no parking is permitted on the road or verges.
“Any offending vehicles will be subject to removal, with the driver not only facing prosecution but liable for any fees incurred in respect of the recovery.
“Tayside Police also ask spectators to give consideration to local communities by ensuring access is available for ambulance and fire services.”
