A PERTHSHIRE man, caught driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, was fined £500 and banned for 12 months at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday.
The court was told that small traces of diazepam were found in the blood of 27-year-old Stuart Brown, of The Holdings, West Kinnochtry, Coupar Angus.
The offence took place on the A94 Balbeggie-Coupar Angus road on March 21. He was driving a van at the time.
Solicitor Paul Ralph said that there had been “no problems” with the accused’s driving – he was only 200 metres from his home.
Mr Ralph added that it was probably the time of night which led to police carrying out a check on his vehicle.
The accused, who is about to start up his own business, will pay the fine at the rate of £100 a monthly, with the first instalment in two months’ time.
