THE credit crunch has started to bite with one of Tayside’s largest solicitors and estate agents closing two of its offices in rural Perthshire.
The axe will fall on the Miller Hendry property shop in Drummond Street, Comrie, on October 17, with their legal office and estate agents in High Street, Auchterarder, shutting down two weeks later.
It was unclear yesterday what the future will hold for the staff at both outlets, although they have been consulted.
Miller Hendry chairman Jennifer Adams declined to say how many staff were employed at each of the offices.
She added: “Current economic conditions are not good and that has made the partners look at our operations.
“We have decided to concentrate on our three main offices in Perth, Dundee and Crieff.”
The firm’s website states that they have a total of 150 staff and are one of the largest estate agents and legal practices in the Tayside and Strathearn area, with eight offices and property shops.
