THE elements were uncharitable for Perth pensioner Bill Jackson’s fund-raising climb of Britain’s highest peak for charity – just five months after undergoing a triple heart by-pass operation.
Bill has refused to let his health problems keep him off his beloved hills and mountains, and after the major surgery in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in May, he tackled Ben Nevis on September 27, a week before his 70th birthday.
Bill’s and granddaughter Amanda Lambie’s efforts bagged a mountain of sponsorship for the British Heart Foundation.
“We have to finalise the collection of all the sponsorship money and we’re expecting it to be just over £1000,” said Bill, of Perth’s Glenalmond Terrace.
