Cleaver case man appears

A PERTH man made a second appearance in private at the Sheriff Court this week, charged with an armed assault and robbery and attacking another man with a cleaver, scarring him for life.

Scott Adam McLean (20), of Uist Place, North Muirton, was fully committed for trial and was freed on bail.

He was represented by Perth solicitor Linda Clark.

It is alleged that on September 29, at his flat, McLean assaulted Christopher Fergusson, c/o Perth Police, by holding a knife at his throat.

It is then alleged that he inserted his hand in the victim’s pocket and removed his mobile phone and bank card.

McLean is alleged to have threatened Mr Fergusson, forced him to divulge his pin number and then robbed him of the phone and card.

A second charge alleges that he struck him on the head with a cleaver to his injury and permanent disfigurement.

McLean has also been charged with using the stolen bank card to remove £90 from Mr Fergusson’s account at a cash machine at the BP Service Station, The Triangle, Perth, the same day.
