A FORMER Perth High School pupil and PA employee has been promoted to become one of the most senior ranking officers in Tayside Police.
Superintendent Donald Archibald, pictured, has been promoted to the heady rank of Detective Chief Superintendent and now heads up the police force’s Operations Division.
After leaving Perth High School, Donald worked as a compositor for the Perthshire Advertiser before joining British Rail in Perth as a clerical assistant.
In 1980 he joined Tayside Police and constabulary work saw him carry out uniform and plain clothes duties, work in CID, the drugs branch and intelligence division.
Donald also had a spell with the Scottish Crime and Drugs Enforcement Agency and was head of crime management at the Scottish Police College where he was responsible for the training of detective officers throughout Scotland.
Detective Chief Superintendent Archibald now lives in Broughty Ferry with his wife and one of his children has gone on to follow her dad into the Force.
Daughter Kerry also works for Tayside Police as the Road Safety Officer.
