Man appears on attempted murder charge

A 39-YEAR-OLD Perth man made a brief appearance in private at the Sheriff Court yesterday, charged with attempting to murder a woman in a city flat by slashing her throat with a knife.

Michael Davison (39), of Croft Park, Craigie, also faced two assault charges, including one of severe injuring a man in the same house by repeatedly striking him on the head with a glass tumbler.

Davison, who was represented by Perth solicitor John McLaughlin, made no plea and his case was continued for further inquiries.

He was remanded in custody after his bail application was rejected by Sheriff Michael Fletcher.

It is alleged that on November 21, at a house in South William Street, Perth, he assaulted Margaret McKenna, who lives there, by repeatedly punching her on the head to her injury.

It is also alleged that on November 22, in the same flat, he assaulted the woman by repeatedly punching her on the head, forcing her to the ground and repeatedly kicking her on the head, body and legs.

The charge then alleges that he cut at her hair with a knife and slashed her arm, thumb and throat and attempted to murder her.

A third charge alleges that he attacked Tomasz Kowalski who was also in the flat at the time.

Davison is alleged to have struck him repeatedly with the tumbler, attempted to force his thumb into the victim’s eye socket and punch him on the face and body, to his severe injury.
