LOCAL SNP politicians have given their party a pat on the back for boosting police numbers in Tayside.
The region’s constabulary has received a welcome boost with dozens of extra officers joining the force’s ranks in the last few months.
Perth constituency MSP Roseanna Cunningham explained: “The figures show that we now have 31 extra police officers in Tayside working to make our communities safer and tackling the fear of crime by providing a more visible police presence.”
Her colleague John Swinney continued: “These officers will help to ensure a better service and ultimately lead to a safer Tayside.”
And Westminster SNP representative Pete Wishart added: “A combination of increased recruitment and enabling more officers to get out and about, the Scottish Government is demonstrating its commitment to safer communities.
“The increased police numbers is really good news for Perthshire.”
