TWO groups from Perth have been chosen to receive a grant to support their work under a Scottish Government funded scheme to promote healthier eating.
Gowans Child and Family Centre in Perth and Southton Smallholding near Tibbermore have just been awarded a Community Food and Health (Scotland) grant from its competitive annual grant scheme, of which 56 applications were successful out of a total of 247 applications.
Groups will use the funding to develop a wide range of healthy eating related activities, such as cooking or weaning classes for young parents, updating equipment at community cafés or elderly lunch clubs and gardening activities for homeless hostel residents.
Gowans Child and Family Centre received £630 to fund a cookery group for parents and children under 5, while Southton Smallholding will use their £2197 to set up and fit out of a second polytunnel.
