Hunt for man who tried to lure girl

THE search is still on for the stranger who attempted to lure a Perth schoolgirl over to his car this week.

On Monday, as the 12-year-old was making her way to school, a man stopped his car on Crieff Road and tried to entice her over to his vehicle. Luckily the 12-year-old girl refused and walked away.

But police have been left worried about the incident and are eager to catch up with the male driver.

“We are very concerned about this man’s actions,” a police spokesperson explained.

“We are treating the incident very seriously and would appeal to anyone who witnessed the encounter, saw the man or his car or who knows who the man is to contact us immediately,” the officer urged.

The incident happened at about 8.35am on Monday close to Crieff Road’s junction with Unity Terrace. The area was busy with pedestrians and traffic at the time, so the police are sure other witnesses would have seen the man draw up and called out for the young girl to come over to his car.

She didn’t recognise him, so sensibly ignored the man and walked away. Thwarted, the man then drove off in the Crieff direction.

He has been described as in his late 20s to early 30s, of thin but muscular build, with very short, shaved fair hair and was wearing a black ‘Stone Island’ top.

He was driving a small, black, sporty car believed to be a Vauxhall Corsa. It had a large-bore exhaust and two yellow, triangular stickers stuck on the rear bumper.

Anyone who witnessed the worrying incident, who has seen the man or his car or recognises the description is urged to call Tayside Police immediately by telephoning 0845 600 5705.
