Deli blow for shop project

WHARFSIDE’S Perth City Hall project was dealt another body blow yesterday.

New York style deli operator McLeish Brothers was in crisis.

Like Fopp Records, which was forced to close down last summer, it had been earmarked for a key unit in the Fair City’s niche shopping project.

McLeish Brothers, a Dundee-based chain, had expressed an interest in securing a presence in Perth.

But now it is facing up to administration amid reports that HBOS had done an about turn over plans to bankroll a £5.5 million expansion drive in Scotland and, later, south of the border.

Several outlets are earmarked for closure with just three being retained.
