Ruckus in carpet shop

AN argument over the price of a rug led to a Perth man being carpeted at the Sheriff Court.

The court was told that 40-year-old Moray Henderson, of St Catherine’s Square, had just been released from a jail sentence.

He went into Adams, Scrim and McCabe’s shop in High Street on October 28 to ask the price of a rug.

When told what it was, he became involved in a disagreement with a member of staff and pushed him.

It later transpired he had bought a similar rug from a major store and it was substantially cheaper than the one in the Perth outlet.

Solicitor David Holmes said that the accused had been drinking and had decided to check the price of the rug to see if a mistake had been made.

But the lawyer added: “The accused would not advance himself as an expert on carpets.”

He was “very swiftly” removed from the shop.

Henderson, who pled guilty to behaving in an aggressive manner and committing a breach of the peace, was fined £300.
