Tree fall terror

A BIG County mother has told of how she was “terrified” after a huge Christmas tree came crashing to the ground in the centre of Perth at the weekend.

The towering 40ft fir hit the pavement outside the Fair City’s Concert Hall, in Mill Street, after being blasted by high winds and heavy rain on Saturday.

Mother-of-two Julia McAllister (42) was walking past the venue when the tree landed just inches away from the hall’s restaurant.

She said: “It was pretty terrifying. The weather was horrendous, the rain was battering down and the wind was really strong.

“It was lucky it didn’t hit someone because they would have been seriously hurt – my kids were really startled,” she said.

Tayside Police have confirmed that nobody was injured in the incident.
