PERTHSHIRE politician Pete Wishart MP has demanded that the company behind the controversial incinerator plans earmarked for Perth’s Shore Road withdraw their application.
Due to the recent tide of resentment against the project, the Perth and North Perthshire MP said he felt it was “absolutely necessary” to write to Grundon Waste Management – the group responsible for the £100million development – to ask them to withdraw their application.
He said: “The environmental transportation and tourism implications make this particular development an unrealistic proposal.
“I have said that if, after due consideration, Grundon are not prepared to withdraw their plans, then the organisation should make a fresh application for entirely new outline planning permission.
“This course of action must be accompanied by full and proper consultation – so that the people of Perth can scrutinise the proposals before any future agreement is made.
“I hope that common sense can prevail in this situation for the sake of Perth and its residents,” he said.
