PERTHSHIRE’S reputation for fine dining and great culinary experiences was reinforced at this year’s Scottish Chef Awards.
Dubbed the Scottish culinary Oscars, the event, held on Sunday, celebrated the best of Scottish chefs and dining.
Ryan Young of Perth’s Opus One took the highest accolade of Big County chefs, with a silver award in the new restaurant of the year category.
Speaking after winning his award, Ryan said: “I am delighted to receive this prestigious award on the first anniversary of the opening of Opus One.
“The team has worked hard to achieve success and this is an encouraging reward for our efforts.”
Bronze awards went to Andrew May of Kinloch House, Blairgowrie in hotel chef, city chef Graeme Pallister of 63 Tay Street and former Murrayshall House chef Bruce Sangster – now at Sangsters in Eli – took bronze in the Scottish chef of the year.
As well as award winners, a number of chefs were highly commended in their respective categories: Jean Baptiste Bady at Kinnard, Dunkeld; Marek Michaelak of Café Tabou, Perth; Catherine Liston of Anglers, Guildtown; Shona Drysdale of Apron Stage, Stanley; Colin McNichol of Indulge, Auchterarder; Fabrice Barteloup of Barley Bree, Muthill; Gary Noble of An Lochan, Glendevon and Paul Bjormarr of Bein Inn at Glenfarg.
