The Conservative Group on Perth and Kinross Council has expressed its concerns about the lack of progress on the City Hall development.
Leader, Councillor Alexander Stewart, said: “We have very grave concerns about the apparently conflicting information that is emerging in connection with the project.
“It is extremely confusing for residents of Perth and Kinross to read the publicity being put out by the developer, Wharfside, when they are yet to formalise their plans and submit them to the council.
“Until they submit a detailed business plan, we cannot comment on any of this publicity.”
“The Conservative Group are keen to see an attractive and viable solution to the City Hall issue.
“We are keen to see a solution that will enhance the future of the retail sector without creating damaging competition to existing shops.
“Inclusion of arts-related uses appears attractive but again we need to ensure that it complements existing venues in the city and does not compete with them.
“Above all, the future of the City Hall needs to be attractive to encourage more people to visit the city, to shop here, and to visit the many existing attractions.
“What it must not be is a white elephant that will cost the local taxpayer vast sums of money in the future.”
