DETECTIVES in Perth are continuing to search for missing Castle Huntly absconder Brian Martin.
Martin (51), also known as The Hawk, fled from the open estate last Monday afternoon.
Three years ago Martin was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment at Edinburgh High Court for firearms offences. At the time of the offence he was on licence from a 12-year prison sentence for assault and robbery and firearms offences.
He had been incarcerated at HMP Shotts before he was transferred to HMP Castle Huntly on April 27 this year.
Detective Inspector Bruce Kerr, the senior investigating officer, said: ‘‘We continue to have great co-operation from officers within Fife Constabulary and we are working together on a number of lines of enquiry. I’d like to thank those people who have called either Tayside or Fife Police or Crimestoppers with information.’’
Martin is known to have friends and family in Kinross and the Ballingry, Leven, Kelty, Glenrothes and Lochgelly areas of Fife. As with all prison absconders, his details have been circulated to all of the UK police forces and the border and immigration service.
He is around 6ft 4in tall, of slim build, with deep set brown eyes, and balding grey hair. He was last seen wearing a green prison issue fleece, blue Pepe make jeans, a blue tammy, and black work boots. He is also thought to have a beige Gap make jacket, a white Le Coq Sportif make polo shirt, a blue Adidas T-shirt, and a white T-shirt in his possession.
Anyone who has seen Martin since last Monday afternoon, or anyone who knows his current whereabouts should not approach him but should get in touch with Tayside Police immediately on 0300 111 2222 or speak to any police officer. Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
