TO mark Perthshire Archaeology Month (June 2009), Perth Museum and Art Gallery is delighted to display the Collace Pictish symbol stone.
It will be on loan to the museum throughout June and by special extension through to the end of September 2009, when it will return to Marischal Museum, University of Aberdeen.
The stone was found in 1948 at Fairygreen Farm, Collace and, although damaged, it boasts several fine examples of the most well-known Pictish symbols, including the mirror, the comb and the Pictish beast or elephant.
Perthshire Archaeology Month runs from June 1-June 31 and details of events can be found at www.pkht.org.uk
Perth Museum and Art Gallery, George Street, is open Monday to Saturday, 10am until 5pm, and Sundays from 1pm until 4.30pm.
Admission is free. Contact 01738 632488 or go to www.pkc.gov.uk/museums for further information.
