A red alert at air show

PREPARATIONS are being finalised for tomorrow’s Heart of Scotland airshow at Perth Airport.

Alongside the world-renowned Red Arrows display team, around 50 aircraft are expected to take part on a day designed raise funds for the 90-year-old RAF benevolent fund and other local charities.

Spectator fencing and barriers were being put in place this week in expectation of a bumper crowd gathering to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

As a further mark of respect, organisers have said any Second World War veterans attending the event wearing their medals will be admitted free of charge.

The Royal Navy will be represented through the presence of a Sea King helicopter, in recognition of the force currently in its 100th year.
