Hackers raid police website

TAYSIDE Police were left red-faced after hackers took over their website.

The computer vandals changed the force’s normal homepage to one displaying comedian Frankie Boyle’s picture with a policeman’s hat superimposed on his head.

A group called the Paisley Young Team claimed responsibility for the hack.

A spokesman for the police said: ‘‘This issue was quickly identified and the unauthorised content removed. There is no connection between the public website and any of the force’s operational systems. As such there were no breaches of data security, police information or systems, nor could there be.

‘‘Further enquiries between Tayside Police and the company that provides the website’s server are continuing to ensure there is no repeat of this incident.

‘‘To this end the website is currently being reviewed, but will be back on-line shortly.’’
