BLAIRGOWRIE and Glens councillor Bob Ellis said that X Factor judge Simon Cowell would’ve had his work cut out keeping tabs on all the talent on show during the annual Braemar Day celebrations.
Councillor Ellis, who was the Master of Ceremonies during a packed day of events on Saturday, said the hordes of talented locals went a long way to making up for the loss of the following day’s Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games, which was cancelled after a torrential downpour.
He said: “As well as the ceilidh in the Angus Hotel and the fireworks display, which, as ever, was a sight to behold, we were also treated to an address by Perth and Kinross Brigadier Mel Jamieson.
“The crowd observed a minute’s silent afterwards as they paid respects to all our brave soldiers who have lost their lives serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.’’
